BarroMetrics Views: Lesson From A Fantastic Day!

On Saturday I held the first event in my new educational process: a free 3-hour seminar at the Grand Hyatt in Singapore.  We had a full-house over 600 attendees.

As regular readers of this blog know, one my dreams is to make a real difference to the trading world. With the impact on the science of learning by the new discoveries in Neurology, I believe that something can be done to lift the failure rate from 92% to 80% i.e. to lift the traders’ failure rates to the more normal Pareto Principle (80-20 Rule).

The process starts with the free seminar. For those that have no idea about trading and those who have no intention of paying for an education (books, seminars etc), this is a great place to start. I provide a foundation, a roadmap and a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed.

Some of the more interesting comments that were overheard after the event:

  • That was good! I can’t understand why it was free.
  • I learnt such a lot. I wonder what the catch is?
  • Why is the 2-day seminar so cheap?

The last comment relates to the second step in the process: a 2-day seminar on May 29 and June 5. Whereas the 3-hour presented theory, the 2-day provides templates and checklist in all the essential areas: winning psychology, risk management and trading rules. Put in another way: the May 15 event focused on theory, the May 29 and June 5 event will focus on the practical application of the theory.

I promised to answer this e-mail question: “if you are not running the 2-day seminar for money, why do you want people to attend?”

A:

1) The only way I can make a difference is if I get the word out i.e. if I can influence a large number of traders. So I am keen to fill my seminar on May 29 & June 5 - just as I was keen to fill May 15’s event.

2) While the object of the seminar is not primarily a commercial venture, I would prefer not to lose money in hosting it. So that’s another reason why I am seeking to fill the May 29, & June 5 event.

Sure I get what I want if you all fill the Capital Tower Auditorium; but, it’s not a one-sided deal. As far as I know S$650.00 (about US$400) for a 2-day seminar is the best value in town. The average seminar in Singapore is about S$2,800.00 and they can run to S$6,000.00. I may be prejudiced but I do believe that my seminar is at least as good as all the others and better than most.
