Ultimate Video 1

BarroMetrics Views: Ultimate Video 1

There will be 4 videos over 4 days, starting today:

  1. Mind
  2. Money
  3. Method
  4. Example

Here is the first link:

Please do make some comments. This is the first time I have attempted this, and I would love to improve. You will benefit with a improved info next time I do it. But, to improve, I need your help. So, your comments are appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Now, turning to some emails I received asking:

1) Whether the videos would make Ultimate available

The answer is ‘no’.

The next Ultimate will take place in March, 2015. I want to see, if the massive interest rate hike I am expecting, will come to pass; and if  does, when the hike will happen.

A hike in 2013 may have flow on effects that could affect our costs for running the 14-week event. Hence the reason for postponing when to announce the next Ultimate’s details.

If you would like to be notified on the details of the next Ultimate, please write to Peter Ow,  peterow@tradingsuccess.com.

2) Whether I would be making the mechanical system mentioned in this series available to the public.

The answer is ‘I don’t know’, at least at this stage.

Initially, I had intended it as only a bonus for Ultimate, Mar 2015. On the other hand, the emails suggest there is a strong demand for a low hurdle entry method to trading success.

Please give me time to discuss it with my partner, Peter Ow. I’ll let you know by Video 4.

  1. Hi Ray, During the week i have been thinking a lot about your series of the Thin Line articles. Its a brilliant piece of work. My thoughts were along the lines,if we have, A. mechanical B. discretion. can there be shades in between? can the mechanical be used as a stepping stone to discretion methods?
Or the discretion made more mechanical? you have honed fine tuned your decision making process with over 30 years experience , a newer punter would probably find discretion a bit daunting.
    cheers baz

  2. Hi Baz

Thank you for your insightful comments & kind words.

I agree with you about the different shades.

Turing to your question. Can a mechanical system be used as a stepping stone? It depends on what you mean by that.

When I first started coaching, I’d start with a simple mechanical system. I reasoned that the newbie could first start trading mechanically, and when successful, he could could then introduce discretion.

But, experience has taught me that those with a discretionary bent find it well nigh impossible to just ‘follow the rules’.

And when they break their straight jacket, we then have to deal with the consequences of ‘guilt feelings’, needing to know that we need to draw the line somewhere etc,

I’ve found it’s better to create a set of rules and then ask the newbie to note the circumstances, and results, surrounding the ‘breach’. Over time, if they keep their journal, a pattern will develop that they can follow.

And, because it is their insight, it is more likely to be more meaningful to them. The trick is to get them to consistently keep a journal, especially during drawdown mode.

  3. Hi Ray,

Thank you for the video. Really good stuff! It’s a pity you only teach face to face. Have you ever thought to teach it also as a course series over the internet?

  4. Awesome stuff! Looking forward to the rest of the videos. Thanks Ray!

Regarding the content of the 1st video, I really like the part about Mindfulness and Visualization. We have talked a lot about how important that is but in reality we spend very little time and effort on it (just like exercising!)

I also realised I have not been very clear about WHAT to visualise, which you touched on briefly during the video.

The journaling example is also different from what I currently do. I am not sure what it is, but there is something not quite “clicking” about it yet. I don’t know if it is because it will involve reorganising how I journal, or what.

All in, an extremely useful video to refresh some important lessons, as well as useful tidbits.

    2 thumbs up!

  5. Hi Sorin

Thank you for taking time to comments & compliments.

Actually most of Ultimate is internet based:

    1) The attendee has at least 6-weeks to learn the content delivered over the net.
    2) There is a 2-day seminar (face to face) that is videoed.
    3) Then 14-weeks over the net

The real problem is the time zone. We hold the internet lessons 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM HST and the times may not suit North American and UK residents.

  6. Hi Joshua

    Thank you for the comments.

The key thing is to ensure you spend the time you spend is time that you are willing to spend on a consistent basis. That’s why the entry and reviw formats differ from pre and during.

Glad you liked it. BTW, welcome to the blog.

  7. Hi Paul

Yes complete currency trader’s free course has some excellent material.

I like the method and money sections, the mind videos, not so much.

That said, the free ‘method’is based on a 4-hr timeframe, relative strength, methodology which is difficult for those who are working to execute.

And, the end-of-day home study course is US$9997.00

  9. hi Ray,

    I like video course courses/presentations –
    1. each lasting only a maximum of 40 min
    2. covering only 1 essential topic/idea

Ultimate Video 1 could have broken down into a few parts.
